1.2542 is a cold work tool steel grade with the same content of alloy additives but reduced carbon content into 0.45 % range. It contains chromium, silicon, vanadium and tungsten, but contains less carbon than other tool steels.

Hot working:

Forging temperature range: 1180-850℃

Note: Heat to 1180 ℃. Do not forge below 850.

Main application:

Cutting dies and punches, hot trimming tools, punching tools
